West Ham maintains a perfect start for their European campaign with another convincing win over Austrian Bundesliga runners-up, Rapid Wien. Declan Rice opened the score in the first half with a tap-in on the back-post and Said Benrahma scored in the 94th minute to finish off London Stadium's first European night in style.
Rice opened the score on the half-hour mark as Yarlomenko squares it to Antonio that gives Rice a back-post tap-in chance after his run from deep. That first goal, made Rapid Wien's fans go mad as stewards had to hold them back after they mounted the barriers at the front of their stand.
West Ham looked calm and comfortable after the break however this calm was interrupted when the referee awarded a penalty against Ben Johnson for a miss-timed tackle on Marco Grull inside the box. The calm was restored when the referee, with the help from the VAR room, overturned his decision as there was not enough contact.
Rapid Wien pushed for an equalizer and West Ham had a couple of suffering minutes against the Austrians, but Said Benrahma scored with a classy finish inside the far post at stoppage time to allow the Hammers to celebrate with their fans, their second victory in the Europa League this season.
West Ham will host Premier League's newest team, Brentford, on Sunday at the London Stadium.
