Vietto joined Sevilla on a season-long loan from Atletico this summer and left many surprised with his decision to turn down a 'bigger' club in Barcelona.
The Argentine said that this decision was down to increased playing opportunities with the Andalusian side, something he needs at this stage in his career.
"At my age, the most important thing is to get regular playing time and to develop," he told 'El Larguero'.
"And I think I will enjoy more playing time at Sevilla than I would have got at Barcelona. Plus I think I will get more opportunities here at Sevilla than at Atletico.
"I don't see it as a step backwards, but as a step forward. I was unable to play at my best level at Atletico".
Vietto made his competitive debut in last night's UEFA Super Cup tie against Real Madrid and ironically, the striker's next match will be against Barcelona, the club he snubbed just a few weeks ago.
