On many occasions a match has been stopped due to homophobic chanting towards a football player.
This happened at last Saturday's match between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield. However, the match was not stopped nor was it reported to stop those who were doing it.
Nevertheless, as reported by Merseyside Police, three men were arrested after the match. Two of the incidents took place outside the stadium and the third took place in the stands.
The Football Association (FA) can now charge clubs if their fans use a homophobic chant that has been aimed at Chelsea players and supporters.
