Thomas Partey to be out of action for 6 weeks with groin injury

Thomas Partey will miss at least the next six weeks. Following medical tests, the club announced on social media that the Arsenal midfielder has suffered a groin injury that will prevent him from playing. 

Partey suffered the injury in training and the club will take his return with caution due to his history of thigh problems. "It doesn't look good. We need some more tests. I believe he'll be out for a few weeks", said Mikel Arteta.

The former Atletico Madrid player will miss Premier League games against Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth and Manchester City and the Champions League games against PSV Eindhoven and Lens.

In his absence the Arsenal manager will have to give playing time to Kai Havertz, Jorginho, Smith Rowe or Elneny as Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard are untouchable for the Spanish manager.

The Gunners hope to have their player back after the October international break. The midfielder played the first three league games in which Arsenal have had one draw and two wins.

The African player plays an important role in Mikel Arteta's plans and is a significant loss for the London side as he is for Ghana. In their next match against Central African Republic on 7th September, he won't be able to help his national team.

Ghana are in Group E and will play their final group match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualification at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on 7th September. Partey's national team are top of the group but qualification is not yet assured.
