Manchester United have finally managed to announce the arrival of Sofyan Amrabat. After months in which the player was linked with a move to Old Trafford, the Red Devils have reached an agreement with Fiorentina for the midfielder.
The Morocco international joins Ten Hag's team on a 10-million-euro loan deal and with an option to buy in June 2024 worth 20 million euros plus 5 million add-ons.
"Sofyan Amrabat has joined Manchester United on loan from ACF Fiorentina until June 2024, subject to international clearance and registration requirements," the Red Devils wrote on their website.
Amrabat was one of the surprise packages for underdog Morocco at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The midfielder was key to the African team reaching the semi-finals of the tournament for the first time in its history, eliminating favourites such as Spain in the round of 16 and Brazil in the quarter-finals.
Thus, the former Brugge player arrives at Manchester United to reinforce a midfield that had suffered the departure of Fred and needed a midfielder with a more defensive profile who could team up with Casemiro.
