The Argentinian national team confirmed on Thursday that Atletico Madrid player Angel Correa will be at the World Cup in Qatar instead of Nico Gonzalez. The Fiorentina winger is out due to a muscle injury.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni spoke to 'TyCSports' after the 0-5 thrashing of the UAE and he spoke candidly saying that there was still the possibility of him making changes to the 26 man squad list because "there are players who are not right".

This Thursday, Scaloni's comments made even more sense. Argentina confirmed that Nicolas Gonzalez had dropped out of the squad after a muscle injury. Angel Correa, who won the Copa America in 2021, will take his place.

Therevfore, the Atletico Madrid attacker will take part in the World Cup and will be the 12th Atletico Madrid player to go to the World Cup in Qatar.

"After training, footballer Nicolas Gonzalez suffered a muscle injury and he has been ruled out of the World Cup squad. The Argentinian coaching staff have selected Angel Correa in his place," they said on social media.
