About a month ago, Arsenal were leading the race to sign Calvert-Lewin although they were aware of Newcastle coming up the rear. Now, according to recent reports from England, the Magpies seem to have overtaken the Gunners. The latest information comes from 'Football Insider', who report that the Toon have already started negotiations with the player.
However, a few weeks still remain until the transfer window opens and it would come as no surprise if the Arsenal board pick up the pace in their attempt to sign the player come June. This would once again make them the favourites to sign the current Everton striker.
Calvert-Lewin is contracted until 2025, and he is worth around 25 million pounds. However, this figure will likely increase as the competition to sign him heats up. This is good news for those at Goodison Park, as it is obvious that they have the upper in hand in the situation and can make a serious amount of money by waving goodbye to the Englishman.
If Calvert-Lewin does leave the Merseyside club it would see him put an end to a six season stint at Everton. He has never played outside of England and so he is expert at the Premier League style if play. Therefore, once he joins the Arsenal squad, or anyone else's Premier League squad for that matter, he will take no time at all in adapting himself to the team.
