Mbappe absent from France session four days before EURO opener

Kylian Mbappe will be one of the big stars at this European Championship. The French striker, a recent signing from Real Madrid, will be the leader of a France side that has been tipped as favourites.

However, the rumour mill is still buzzing about the France captain's fitness. As L'Equipe reported, the striker was absent from Thursday's afternoon training session for Didier Deschamps' side. There are only four days to go until France's debut against Austria.

Despite the alarm bells, Mbappe worked out in the gym, as he is still recovering from back and knee problems. However, it doesn't look like he won't be ready for his debut. Kingsley Coman, who is suffering from a slight virus, and Aurelien Tchouameni, who is still recovering, were also absent.

Deschamps is reportedly reserving the Madrid signing from all exertion in the days leading up to the European Championship opener, although such occurrences leave French fans uncertain as to whether their national team will be able to count on their best player.

It was 'RMC Sport' that reported that several members of the French expedition are suffering from a virus. Specifically, rhinopharyngitis, which has led to fever and discomfort. However, this is just a setback and it is hoped that everyone will be recovered by Monday.
