Lewandowski believes that, after all, he could be the greatest. He completed another season for the record books, one that will go down in history, and gave an interview with 'Sportweek' in which he said the same phrase he did five months ago with 'France Football' - "I can invite Messi and Cristiano to my table". He gave this amongst other interesting phrases.
"I've spent years amongst the world's best, maybe the best, I would certainly like to be. The Balon D'Or isn't my goal, I won the FIFA Award and UEFA's Best Player, which means a lot to me. Messi and Ronaldo have spent a lot of time at the top, but now I think I can invite them to my table. I think I can sit down and speak with them about football, our passion, because I won everything last season", he affirmed.
"Many people think I'm a robot, but I'm human. For a striker, it's very important to train every day. It's vital to train the mind to make the best decision in seconds. Talent is important but, without much work, it won't last for long", he added, when asked what the fans think of him.
Lewandowski's season backs up his words. In his 350 games in the Bundesliga, he has been awarded top goal-scorer for six consecutive seasons. There is no one that comes close to him as a deadly finisher and, if he has boasted about it in interviews on more than one occasion, maybe it's because he can.
