Manchester City are close to strengthening their midfield with a new signing. The Sky Blues need a reinforcement after the club announced that Kevin de Bruyne could be sidelined for a few months as the Belgian player underwent surgery due to a harmstring injury.
Thus, the Mancunian team are looking to land a new signing in order to fill the void left by De Bruyne's absence. According to Fabrizio Romano, Wolves' midfielder Matheus Nunes are City's favourite for the job.
The Italian journalist reported that the Cityzens are "increasingly confident" to get the deal done very soon as Pep's side made a new bid in excess of 60 million euros. Elsewhere, the English club agreed personal terms with the Portuguese international.
Matheus Nunes was a key player for the Wanderers last season, making 39 official appearances, 32 of them as a starter. The former Sporting Lisbon man scored one goal and provided an assist.
