Maldini tried to bring Messi to AC Milan

When Lionel Messi left Barcelona, a fierce race for his transfer began, which Paris Saint-Germain won, but they were not the only ones interested in his services.

Former AC Milan president Paolo Maldini revealed that when he heard of Inter's interest in the Argentine, he tried to convince him that, if he wanted to move to Milan, the right choice was AC Milan.

"When I read that Messi could sign for Inter I was furious. For ten days, I tried to bring him to Milan, but we realised it was impossible," he told 'PoretCast'. He went on to add: "I wanted him. He is a fantastic player. We tried, but it was not possible."

PSG were the team that made the strongest bid for Messi and the Argentinian headed for the Parc des Princes. Maldini ended up leaving the Milan offices with the thorn of not having been able to sign the player who is currently playing in the MLS with Inter Miami.
