Uruguay's Fede Valverde scored Madrid's equaliser in their 2-1 win over Real Sociedad and after the game, when trying to explain how he hit the ball, said that even he doesn't believe it and that he made a mistake, as he was looking for another type of shot.
"I don't believe it myself. I didn't want to do that. I'm happy that I can contribute to the team, with goals, assists, energy...", he told 'Real Madrid TV'.
Valverde felt that his team deserved the win after bouncing back from Barrenetxea's goal in the 5th minute. "We had a lot of chances in the first half where we couldn't score. In the first half they scored and it affected the way we played, but we kept trying and the goal just after coming out in the second half was good for us", he explained.
"We were doing well. There are games when things don't work out, but today we were good and all we needed was a goal. The moves we played were enough to be able to win. We did our best", he added.
Valverde commented that he feels "good playing in midfield" as he connects "well" with Carvajal on the right flank and praised his team's other goalscorer, Spaniard Joselu Mato. "Joselu is fantastic. He's always there. He tried harder than anyone else and gave his all to take the team forward, and thank God he scored to give us the win," he said.
