According to the 'Express', Derby County wants an experienced man to lead the defense next season, especially if they ends up in the top flight of English football.
Cahill and Lampard agreed in the ranks of Chelsea two and a half seasons. While the midfielder was an idol at Stamford Bridge, the defender arrived in the winter of the 2011-12 campaign from Bolton Wanderers.
Now, five years after separating their paths, coach and player could meet again, albeit in entirely different roles. And everything seems to be on track for Cahill to sign for Derby County.
The defender would be happy to join Lampard's team. Cahill has barely had a leading role with Sarri on the bench and would be looking for a change of scenery for next season.
