According to a statement from La Liga on Friday, the pitch invasion after the Espanyol-Barca match is now in the hands of the law. The complaint is directed to those people who have already been identified by La Liga, in collaboration with Espanyol, as well as all those who were involved in the incidents and have been identified by the police authorities.
The complaint asks for a warrant to be issued, allowing the police to analyse the images and identitify more of those involved. Two days ago, La Liga submitted the complaint to the Antiviolence committee, which referred to the events that occured after Barcelona had won 2-4, while the team celebrated their title victory on the pitch.
The statement refers to the pitch invasion by over 100 Espanyol fans, which forced the club security to intervene, as well as riot police, leading to damage to club property and technical equipment.
La Liga recalled that, according to information from Espanyol, the club had increased its security personnel, going from 107 to 167 security guards and from 390 to 460 extra security assistants.
The document also indicated that the majority of the local fans who invaded the pitch came from the lower tier of the Gol Cornella stadium.
