The club announced during the week that 3 people had tested positive, with a further 3 testing positive on Thursday evening. The league had no choice but to call the game off for the health and safety of everyone.
In addition, Kilmarnock players have been advised to self-isolate for the next two weeks which puts their League Cup matches against Falkirk and Dunfermline in jeopardy.
It's not the first time that COVID-19 has ravaged the Scottish Premiership this season. 8 Aberdeen players broke the quarantine rules and went to a bar, only to contract the virus. Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli also broke the strict rules by returning from Spain without self-isolating.
St Mirren, Hamilton, and Hibs have also had coronavirus cases but their matches went ahead.
A Kilmarnock statement read: "Kilmarnock Football Club can confirm that tonight’s Scottish Premiership match against Motherwell will not take place as scheduled".
"Six players in total have now tested positive and following discussions with NHS Ayrshire & Arran Public Health, the Scottish Government, East Ayrshire Council and the footballing authorities, our entire first-team squad have been advised to self-isolate until October 14", it continued.
