Joselu has had a season full of twists and turns, on an individual level (scoring 16 league goals) as much as on a collective level (relegation with Espanyol), but the 33-year-old shared his joy of returning to the national squad with 'AS'.
"This Nations League is exciting and important, because we're two games away from bringing home a continental title. It's been a long time since Spain won the title, and now we're so close to it .. and at the same time so far, it's a great challenge", began the Spaniard, who is about to play the first high-stakes match of his international career against Italy on Thursday (20:45 CEST).
But the reason the striker has been making headlines recently are due to the rumours that see him returning to Real Madrid, where he had played between 2009 and 2012: "I can't say anything for now, but it's always flattering that this makes the papers".
"I hope good things happen in the future, but for now, I'm focused on the national team and I will try to win the Nations League. I left Real Madrid and I still have good friends there, people that work there. It's always nice that these people remember you", continued Joselu.
The summer window has the potential to be a rollercoaster itself, although the former Deporto Alaves player insists he wants "everything to be settled quickly, for my peace of mind and that of my family, so that we can have a peaceful summer".
