It was a bad start for Manchester City. Yokohama F Marinos were leading 2-0 thanks to goals from Anderson Lopes and Ko Matsubara. The Brazilian opened the scoring in the 27th minute and ten minutes later, the Japanese extended their lead.
However, Pep Guardiola's men were not going to leave it at that. John Stones halved the deficit in the 40th minute to give his side a boost.
Kyle Walker found Julian Alvarez and the Argentinian passed to Stones, who scored from inside the box with a superb shot after several passes from his teammates near the box.
The World Cup winner grabbed a brilliant second to put Manchester City on level terms. Kalvin Phillips put pressure on the Yokohama goalkeeper for Alvarez to make it 2-2 from close range.
The second half will start just like the kickoff, i.e. with no advantage for either team. Pep Guardiola is expected to make several changes to his squad. The Sky Blues are determined to win their first pre-season match.
