Five Roma teammates ask for Dzeko to regain captaincy

Dzeko is no longer the Roma captain and he will not be it for at least some time. The Roma player was punished by his coach for ill-discipline and, even though he was allowed to return to group training, Fonseca still does not want him to be the captain. 

Five senior players in the squad have called for Dzeko to be given the armband again, 'Corriere dello Sport' reports. They are Pellegrini, Mancini, Cristante, Spinazzola and Mirante. The club's response is clear: no. 

Something that Dzeko will have liked is that Pellegrini, the new Roma captain, was one of those who called for Dzeko to be reinstated with captain. He is loyal to his teammate even though he would lose the captaincy.

There are others who agree with those five players. Walter Sabatini, a former Roma board member, said recently that "you don't strip someone of the captaincy unless he kills someone." It was obviously an exaggeration, but he was trying to say that the punishment was wrong.
