Newcastle failed to earn a point against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. The Magpies suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Sky Blues, who took all three points thanks to a first-half goal from Julian Alvarez.
Eddie How was asked after the match against the Cityzens about his thoughts on the defeat to the reigning Premier League champions. "I think they played really well today. I thought we were slightly off our highest levels, especially in the first half," said the coach.
"We were much better in the second half. I mean, the first half, it was a disappointing start to the game. I really thought we'd fly at them and put them under pressure, but it was sort of the opposite.
"They controlled the game and it was a difficult opening period to the match, but much better in the second half. You have to give them credit, they're a top team and that's why they win so much," concluded the Magpies boss.
