Deportivo Alavés hosted Real Betis on Sunday on matchday one of the Primera División. Betis started at the Mendizorroza Manuel Pellegrini's spell as first team manager.
It was also the debut of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who signed for Betis on a free after his spell at Manchester City.
The Chilean keeper, whose incorporation to the team led to a barrage of doubts about his performance, made a great save at the start of the second half to keep the game level.
In the 48th minute from a corner, Battaglia rose above everyone to head goalwards, but Claudio Bravo got an unlikely hand to avoid the goal. And from the rebound, the goalie got another vital hand at point-blank range to clear the ball past the post.
