Claudio Bravo's future is up in the air. The only thing that is clear is that the Chilean will not continue under Manuel Pellegrini at Real Betis. The goalkeeper must now decide whether to sign for another club or end his career.
Meanwhile, Bravo has been called up to his country's international squad for the friendly match against Paraguay, a preparatory match for the Copa America in the United States. The goalkeeper's presence in the international tournament also appears to be assured.
Bravo has returned home with the national team, but the Chilean goalkeeper is not expected to be rejoining any local side, having already made it clear that he had no intention of returning to football in his native country. When explaining his reasons, he referred to how badly Arturo Vidal was struggling at Colo-Colo.
The former Barca goalkeeper is also considering retirement, he said a few weeks ago: "If I get an offer that gives me a good feeling and fills me with enthusiasm, logically I will extend my career. But if nothing comes along or something comes along that doesn't generate anything for me or the expectations don't meet what I'm used to, the cycle will be cut short".
Bravo faces the challenge of achieving something big with Chile while at the same time clarifying his future. A good performance at the Copa America 2024 could perhaps open the doors to some teams. If he does not find a place, the Chilean will say goodbye to more than 20 years as a professional.
