Quique Setién said in the pre-match press conference for the Ibiza game that Barcelona are thinking about signing a striker. That is their main priority, and have a list of names, with 3 of the names standing out: Timo Werner, Aubameyang and Rodrigo.
And out of the names, 'Marca' assures that Rodrigo is in pole position. Barca have been after Rodrigo for some time, who they planned on signing on several occasions, and in the winter market, they are thinking about trying again.
Barca understand that the Valencia forward is the ideal man because of his quality and because his adaptation to Setién's formations would be faster, something to take into account in the winter market where managers are looking for players to perform immediately.
However, the deal won't be easy for Barca. Valencia aren't willing to let him leave for less than 60 million euros, and Barcelona can't offer that amount at the moment.
Rodrigo is also the number one target because the rest seem even more complicated. In Aubameyang's case, Arsenal aren't willing to sell their top goalscorer, while Werner is one of the most coveted strikers at the moment and RB Leipzig will not let him leave so easily either.
For the time being, Valencia are keeping quiet on the matter. Rodrigo has been called up for the match against Logroñés and Albert Celades refused to speak about it. "He has trained with us, he is progressing in his recovery. That's the reality, the rest is hypothesis," he said.
