With only a few days to go before the European transfer window opens on 1st July, many teams are thinking, dreaming and looking for a sporting project that will make them be at the top and fighting for the majority of titles next season. Antwerp is one of them.
The team now coached by Mark Van Boomel has two top names on their agenda with experience in the big European leagues. Those are the internationals Dries Mertens, from Napoli, and Toby Alderweireld, from the Qatari club Al-Duhail.
HLN' advanced this news and the striker's deal seems, in principle, simpler. At least, financially. His contract with the Italian club expires on 30th June and he could return to his country for free. He acknowledged that he wanted to stay with his current team but "had no news about the renewal".
For his part, the centre-back has a contract until 2024 after completing his first season in Qatar, in which he has played a total of 29 games, all starts, and contributed one goal and two assists. He left Tottenham in the 20-21 season after six seasons.
