FT: Ivory Coast 1-0 South Africa. In the end Ivory Coast had enough in the tank to win this one, but let's be honest it was a pretty poor match. Ivory Coast should be competing for this competition with some of the players they have, but their performance today was disappointing to say the least.

Big late chance for South Africa! Hilanti goes for the spectacular and his boss can be clearly seen to scream some expletives in frustration. It has not been South Africa's day.
  • 90'
    4 minutes of stoppage time.
  • 89 '
CLOSE! Pépé again... Free kick again... This time he goes for the top left corner and Williams is able to get a finger tip on it, he can certainly hit them though can Pépé.
  • 87 '
Coulibaly is the one to leave for Doumbia, whilst Cornet does indeed come on for Gradel.
  • 85 '
Max Gradel is down with what looks like cramp, he is set to be replaced by Cornet, whilst Doumbia is also on the sideline so he will presumably also be coming onto the field.
  • 81 '
Veldwijk comes on for Mothiba for South Africa.
  • 80'
This game has been one of low quality and the players are clearly struggling, it is very very hot and you can tell the players are more than slightly fatigued here.
  • 75 '
    Wanloe is replaced by Vilakazi.
  • 68 '
It's Zaha time! He comes on for Jean-Michel Seri, who has had a largely disappointing game, not sure what that will do to the Ivorian midfield however...
  • 65 '
GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLL! Finally! Jonathan Kodjia takes his chance here and sticks the ball under the onrushing keeper, this game really needed a goal, and after a superb ball in from Gradel, Kodjia brings us said goal.
  • 61'
South Africa have a free kick and it is whipped into the box, it's dealt with easily by the Ivorian defenders, who are of course missing their defensive lynchpin at the back, Eric Bailly.
  • 57'
There's a man down here for South Africa, can't quite see who it is, Coulibaly has had his shirt ripped too so he is getting that sorted out, other than that..... as you were.
  • 51'
It's been a bit of a nothing start to this second half to be honest, with neither side looking to eager, it is currently 37 degrees in Cairo, which probably explains that...
  • 46'
    The second half begins!
  • 45'
The teams are back out for the second half after a much needed break in this sweltering heat, Ivory Coast will be hoping to finally break the deadlock, whilst South Africa will be looking to cash in on their set piece chances.
  • 45'
HT: Ivory Coast 0-0 South Africa. Ivory Coast will be going in wondering how on earth they haven't managed to score yet, Pépé's effort was a delightful one, Kodjia's was a sitter, either way they should be at least one goal up here.
  • 42 '
So far we have seen just why Nicolas Pépé is in such high demand from the likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool, however we have also seen just why Seri ended up at Fulham and not Barcelona... and he is now booked for a lazy foul in midfield.
  • 36'
Possession wise, we're probably at about 50:50 if I had to guess, Ivory Coast have had the better chances and should have scored one, but South Africa have had their fair share too, they will need to be aware of the counter attack however.
  • 32 '
That is another huge chance spurned by Ivory Coast! Jonathan Kodjia is clean through on goal, and one on one with the keeper, but he hits it straight at Williams who stands strong, that was a real waste of an excellent chance, but fair play to Williams in goal, he stood strong and did what he had to do.
  • 30 '
CLOSE! That's as close as we've seen so far, and it doesn't get much closer than that! Pépé takes the free kick and strikes it beautifully iover the wall, Williams was beaten, but it hit the cross bar and is cleared away, for those of you that haven't seen Nicolas Pépé play, he can PLAY...
  • 28'
Nicolas Pepe with a free kick here...
  • 25 '
Hiatshwayo misses a huge chance for South Africa! An excellent ball in form the left hand side is met well by the head of the defender following a corner, but he cannot convert to give South Africa the lead.
  • 22 '
Mothiba is shown a yellow card for pulling down Serge Aurier, that seemed a harsh yellow card from the referee.
  • 16'
Another ball in is defended well by Mkhwanazi, the South African defence are being tested here, but so far, Williams in goal has not and you get the feeling that South Africa will be quite pleased with their opening defensive efforts.
  • 13'
Ivory Coast still very much in the driving seat here, with a good chance just denied by some excellent defending by Mkhwanazi preventing Jonathan Kodjia having an easy chance.
  • 9 '
It's still all Ivory Coast here, and after a nice passage of passing, Serey Die blasts an effort over the bar, it looks like it's coming though for Ivory Coast.
  • 4'
The opening 4 minutes of this game have been all Ivory Coast, they are one of the tournament favourites anyway and they have looked threatening so far today.

They even have the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Maxwell Cornet to call on from the bench, both of whom had superb club seasons for Crystal Palace and Lyon respectively, as Ivory Coast have opted for the more experienced duo of Aston Villa's Jonathan Kodjia and Toulouse's Max Gradel. Gradel is the most experienced player in the Ivory Coast squad with 65 caps.
