Xavi Simons is one of PSG's rising stars, and he could make a step forward in the 2021/22 campaign. At the moment, his performances are seriously grabbing the attention manager Mauricio Pochettino. In the two friendies, the Argentine boss was witness to some sparkling performances against Le Mans and Chambly.
In the most recent match, it was hoped that new signing Sergio Ramos might make his debut. However, he didn't do so in the end as he wasn't at 100% physical fitness. He may well appear in the next match against Augsburg, although that remains to be seen.
Returning to Simons, he came on from the bench in the first of the two matches and he took just 45 minutes to showcase his quality. He provided an assist and scored a goal of his own to complete the rout. In the next friendly, he played from the start and crowned his appearance with another goal.
His good work isn't only reduced to his stats, as the player is showing a lot more maturity on the pitch. Despite him being just 18-years-old, he looks likely to be one of the main candidates to break into the first team under Pochettino this campaign.
