With ten minutes to go in Uruguay's final group game against Italy, Suarez turned rabid.
As if possessed by the spirit of a wild animal, the Uruguayan charged into the box and began grappling with Chiellini off the ball. Unfortunately for the Italian, Suarez's mouth lined up perfectly with his shoulder, and the striker's biting instinct kicked in.
The No. 9 buried his teeth into the centre-back and, like a dog with an old slipper, shook his head vigorously. Both men hit the deck, Chiellini wailing and Suarez clutching his gnashers in an audacious ploy to come across as the victim.
Mobbing ensued and Chiellini presented Exhibit A to the referee - warm bitemarks - but shockingly, Suarez emerged from the incident uncarded. The only compensation offered to the Italians was a futile free-kick deep in their own penalty box.
Whether it's something he takes pleasure from or an odd, unconventional tactic, Suarez has a real taste for digging his teeth into his opponents. Having already bitten both Otman Bakkal and Branislav Ivanovic, Chiellini was inducted into hall of fame.
In addition to his sore shoulder, the game ended in heartbreak for Chiellini. Two minutes after the Uruguayan's vampiric snacktime, Diego Godin nodded in the only goal of the game to send Italy home.
Suarez himself was also sent packing after the incident as he was ousted from the competition and handed a four-month ban. His grandmother later leapt to his defence, ironically declaring that her beloved grandson was treated "like a dog" in the aftermath of the bite.
