In the podcast 'Football, Feminism and Everything Between', Joey Barton did not hold back when speaking about women's football, as shown in by him saying that it is inferior. "If they continue to play at the same size as men and with the same rules, they will always be an inferior product," he said.
"We have to accept that men and women are fundamentally different," Joey Barton commented, who is now a coach at Fleetwood Town, in League One. He believes that the game must change for women.
"It is a different sport. In essence, women's football must be adapted, physically and biologically. The dimensions of the goal and the weight of tha ball should change," the former City, Newcastle, Olympique Marseille and Burnley footballer stated.
Barton set out a strategy in this regard. "If you personalise it, women's football could tak emany steps tactically and technically, far beyond their current limitations. They need to be realistic. The size of a football for a man is a size five. Let's say we change the size to a size four for women: would anyone notice the difference?".
Barton's words have generated a torrent of comments at all levels, in England and internationally, as they are critical of equality and feminism.
