The 'Potters' edged their way to a win thanks to Darren Fletcher's first goal for the club early in the first half and speaking to the club's official website after the game, Wimmer expressed his happiness at having claimed all three points.
"It was a massive three points for us," he explained. "We know Watford is a hard place to go, especially this season, they have had a great season so far.
"Last week in the away game at Chelsea they played very well and were unlucky to lose. With the last few results for us over the last couple of weeks it was really important to get three points and keep a clean sheet.
"I think we worked very hard as a team for the whole 90 minutes, we defended well and it was a great feeling to come away with the three points."
The win eases the pressure on Stoke boss Mark Hughes, who had come in for criticism for the club's start to the season, particularly in the wake of their 7-2 defeat to Manchester City.
