West Ham launch bid for Nottingham Forest's Taiwo Awoniyi

West Ham United have commenced negotiations with Nottingham Forest for the immediate transfer of striker Taiwo Awoniyi. The 27-year-old Nigerian international, who is under contract with Forest until 2027, has emerged as a prime target for the London club.

West Ham's interest comes amidst an injury crisis in their forward line, with Niclas Fullkrug sidelined for three months and Michail Antonio out for the season. Awoniyi has struggled for regular playing time at Forest this season, starting only two Premier League games under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Despite his limited appearances, the former Union Berlin player has shown his quality, scoring in Forest's Premier League victory over Wolverhampton. West Ham manager Graham Potter sees Awoniyi as a potential solution to the team's attacking woes, with the club having won just seven of their 21 Premier League games this season.

However, any deal may hinge on Forest's ability to secure a replacement, with the club reluctant to let Awoniyi leave without reinforcing their own squad.
