West Ham boss confirms Man City's opening bid for Paqueta

West Ham have rejected a bid from Manchester City, who offered a package worth €101 million (£87 million) for midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to several reports in England.

In fact, West Ham manager David Moyes confirmed at the pre-match press conference ahead of the Bournemouth game that they had received an offer from the Sky Blues. "All I can say is we've had an offer from City but at the moment, it's nowhere near meeting our valuation," he told reporters.

Despite being a key player in east London, making over 40 appearances last season for West Ham, Paqueta is keen on the move to join the English champions, while the Hammers feel they would not have time to find a replacement with the Premier League kicking off on Friday.

The Brazilian has a buyout clause in his contract for €98 million (£85 million), but it reportedly cannot be activated until next summer. However, Pep Guardiola's side will keep trying as they want to sign the 25-year-old at all costs.
