West Ham's 2021/22 season was impressive. They finished in seventh position in the Premier League and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League. Certainly a season to be proud of if you are a Hammers fan.
However, David Moyes, head coach, is not satisfied and is looking to improve his squad. Following the signings of Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes and Gianluca Scamacca, West Ham are now after Lille's Amadou Onana.
According to 'Sky Sports', the Belgian centre midfielder, who appeared in 32 matches for the French outfit last season, has a 40 million euro offer on the table. A number of journalists report that the agreement is in an advanced stage but the player's current contract is proving to be a sticking point.
Onana has not returned to Lille training since his exit negotiations began. Now, the 2020/21 Ligue 1 champions find themselves in the difficult position of searching for his replacement with the start of the Ligue 1 season looming. This weekend they will host Auxerre in their opening fixture of the season.
