The 'Baggies' played their first game in the Championship after relegation from the Premier League on Saturday, and the game was not the main subject of discussion amongst fans.
Before the match kicked off against Bolton Wanderers, the mascot was revealed on the pitch at the Hawthorns.
Due to the team being sponsored by a company that manufactures boilers, the club have decided to introduce anew mascot which has been dubbed 'Boiler Man' on social media, although it is unclear what the gender of the boiler is in reality.
The mascot was seen walking around the edge of the pitch waving at fans, and joining in with the player mascots that were having a kick about on the pitch before the game.
While most mascots are some varitation on a friendly-looking animal, the 'Albion' have certainly not aimed this mascot at their younger fans, but rather their parents who might be looking to upgrade their heating systems.
Social media was full of bemused supporters, with one fan saying that "WBA's mascot's a boiler! I thought someone was having me on".
Unfortunately, West Brom lost the game 2-1 thanks to a late winner from Bolton's Yanic Wildschut. The home fans were clearly upset, but luckily tensions didn't boil over.
