"We missed out on Araujo by 18 seconds"

Barcelona ended the January transfer window without getting anyone in and by letting Hector Bellerin go. Having said that, they were about to get Julian Araujo, but the deal fell through at the last minute. In fact, Mateu Alemany explained it to 'Movistar'.

"We didn't get there in time with Jualin Araujo due to a technical error. It was 18 seconds, I don't know what FIFA are going to do. What you musn't forget is that he was a youth player", the Catalan side's Sporting Director said before the match against Real Betis.

He then spoke about another target: "We were looking at a lot of options in the market. Amrabat is a one-off situation in the market and we'll see in the future. We were fine, the boss is calm about it. We've got some players out which helps us save".

"We had the talent in the squad, and we've prioritised registering the players who were already renewed and saving to try and register Araujo and Marcos Alonso", the director said before talking about the matches left for the side.
