The women's national team coach, Jorge Vilda, said that the match against Australia in the Nations Cup in Sydney, in which Spain lost 3-2, "was a very valid test", against a team "of the level that you can find in the World Cup" in any qualifying round.
"We have used a new system, we think it can give us a lot in the future, but mainly it has shown that we have to improve defensively, that there are aspects of solidity and strength in both areas that we have to clarify, and to keep working and try to finish with the best feelings," he said.
Speaking to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Vilda said that so far, after the victory over Jamaica (3-0) in the first match of this competition and Sunday's defeat, "the objectives are being met" to prepare well for next summer's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
"We have the Czech Republic ahead of us and they are going to make it very difficult for us. They are a very tough team, who defend very well. It's the last game, we'll recover, we'll prepare and we'll go for it," he added.
Real Madrid international Olga Carmona, scorer of the first of Spain's two goals against Australia, was "very happy" to have scored, but said she had "a bit of a negative feeling" about not getting the win.
"We learn from every game and we learn from this one too. We leave with a bitter feeling because we wanted to win here, but we couldn't. We have to take the positives and, above all, the team's reaction in the second half. We're going to correct, learn and we'll keep the positives, because there were also many things", he added.
