Disaster struck for Atletico Madrid in Do Dragao. The Madrid side, already out of the Champions League, lost 2-1 to Porto, which was there only chance left to fight for a trophy: the Europa League.
Antoine Griezmann, who had a goal disallowed in 68' minute, assumed the responsibilty after the game, and was very critical to 'Movistar Liga de Campeones'.
"We don't deserve to be in the Champions League last-16, nor the Europa League. If you can't win a group-stage game, you don't deserve anything", the Frenchman started by saying.
He went on to say sorry to the fans and sent out this message about what remains of the season: "Now we've got to sort ourselves out, stop talking and fight. Our fans don't deserve this. Thanks for the role they play home and away, we hear you".
Finally, Griezmann expressed his support for Simeone, when asked about whether his message is still getting across in the dressing room: "It's getting through loud and clear. We are here on his orders, to work with him, it's a pleasure to work with him, to play at this club, but you've got to then show it on the pitch", he concluded.
