Neither Nikola Vlasic nor Ashley Westwood, unfortunately, will forget this Sunday. West Ham and Burnley were facing off in London in a game which was halted in the 20th minute due to a serious injury.
The former accidentally injured the latter in a 50:50 ball. Both collided as they went to try and win the ball and the visiting player ended up suffering a serious injury.
Westwood immediately called for medical attention. He knew something was not right and he was not the only one. Vlasic had his hands on his head when he saw how the Burnley player's right foot had gone completely the other way.
The Croatian started cry inconsolably while his opponent was getting attended to on the pitch. Finally, he had to go off on a stretcher and he was applauded by the West Ham. The good news was that he was smiling as he went off.
After the match resumed, Burnley took the lead through Weghorst, who did not hesitate in dedicating the goal to his teammate. The game ended 1-1 after Tomas Soucek levelled for West Ham in the second half.
