Vinicius rejects Saudi move and biggest contract in football history

It's been a quiet summer at the Santiago Bernabeu. 'The Athletic' reportedly unveiled a multi-million euro offer from Saudi Arabia for Vinicius. The investment fund would have offered the Brazilian a five-season contract with Al-Ahli in exchange for more than 1 billion euros in salary, bonuses and other income. But the striker, for the moment, is not moving from Real Madrid.

In the Asian country, there is an obsession with the 2034 World Cup. The hosts want to reach the event with a league full of stars and with ambassadors of the stature of the former Flamengo player. For the time being, they will have to think of another big-name player or find a way to convince Vini, although the closed door they have found is not only the player.

Madrid would also have been categorical in this regard. Upon learning of this interest, the 'Merengue' entity was clear in its response: there will be no negotiation for one of their top assets. 'Los Blancos' are referring to the striker's termination clause, estimated at 1,000 million euros, an exorbitant amount even for the buoyant Saudi Arabian coffers.

From Brazil, 'Globoesporte' echoed this same rumour, but left the response of the former Flamengo player up in the air. According to this source, he would not have pronounced himself on the matter and would be waiting for a written ratification of everything that was proposed verbally.

It should be remembered that, last October, Vinicius extended his contract with Real Madrid until 30th June 2027. It was then that he was protected by that astronomical termination clause, precisely to scare off or, at least, make this type of move as complicated as possible. "I am very happy to renew my contract. It's a dream for me," said the No 7 at the time.

'ESPN' reported that the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) and representatives of the Brazilian player spoke of a salary of 382.5 million dollars (about 348 million euros) per season. In addition, the same media assured that Madrid would expect to receive the 1,000 million of his termination clause.
