After last weekend's 1-1 draw against Liverpool, Pochettino's side wasted a lively performance as they paid the price for sloppy defending and wasteful finishing at the London Stadium.

Antonio blasted West Ham's decisive second goal after half-time and Lucas Paqueta added a late penalty to leave Pochettino still waiting for his first Premier League win since taking charge in the close-season.

The Brazilian midfielder is under investigation by the English Football Association for possible violations of sports-betting regulations. However, coach David Moyes defended and praised him at Sunday's post-match press conference.

"He's a solid and tough character, so no problems. I thought 65,000 people stood to their feet and applauded him the whole game because of what he did.

"He went the whole way, played as well as anybody, showed character, never hid away from the ball ever. His performance was very, very good, especially in the second half. He's just a very good player," he added.
