On Sunday, Real Valladolid welcomed SD Huesca to the Estadio Jose Zorilla for the final game of the Spanish Segunda division season. Going into the game, Valladolid knew they needed a win to secure automatic promotion.
They did just that. After a goalless first half, Valladolid turned up the heat in the second. Shon Weissman netted two minutes after the break and five minutes later, Gonzalo Plata doubled the home side's advantage. A little over ten minutes from time, Alvaro Aguado made it 3-0 to secure the win.
Crucially, Eibar lost their final match of the season to Alcorcon which meant with the three points earned by Valladolid, they were the ones to join Almeria in achieving automatic promotion to Spain's top flight.
