The 34-year-old Italian opened the scoring for his side after just 13 minutes, a lead which they carried all the way into a half time and long into the second half. However, Chapecoense's Kaio Nunes spoiled the party with 20 minutes to go, converting Lima's pass to make it 1-1.

Since that match, Sao Paulo have lifted themselves to 14th in the league on 11 points. Chapecoense remain second bottom in 19th on just four points.
