Valon Behrami joins Udinese on two-year deal

Udinese have completed the signing of the Swiss international midfielder from Watford for an undisclosed fee. Behrami has signed a two-year deal and the Serie A club has the option to extend the deal by a further year. 

Formerly at West Ham, Behrami joined the newly-promoted Watford in 2015 from Hamburg and made 43 league appearances during his stint at the club.

The 32-year old's previous spell in Italy was with Napoli between 2012 and 2014 and the Udinese director general Franco Collavio said of the signing: "We closed the deal very quickly. Udinese wanted a player with these characteristics and with this experience in our league, Serie A, where Behrami wanted to go back to test himself.

"This is an important purchase for technical expertise, an investment for this season and the project we are pursuing."

Watford confirmed the departure of the midfielder with a short statement which read: "Watford thanks Valon for his efforts at the club and wishes him well for the future."
