United target Dier

The midfielder has been important to Mauricio Pochettino in the fight for the Champions League, a tournament they couldn't succeed in. Dier still remains on Manchester United's radar despite Tottenham having Champions League football and United not.

As reported by the 'Times' Solskjaer is looking for a defensive midfielder, with Eric Dier emerging as the favourite for this role.

The departures of Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic makes Manchester United need two more men, at least, in the centre of the field. However, the 'red devils' do not want to spend too much as they are looking to cover a whole host of positions.

That is why, the English midfielder is in United's plans, with the Manchester club looking to add to their first signing, that of Daniel James, who they signed yesterday.
