United let McNeil go and now want to pay 40 million for him

McNeill had to pack his bags 5 years ago and leave. Manchester United parted company with him and Burnely signed him.

Last season, when he had only played 1 match for the 1st team the season before, the versatile attacker burst on to the scene by playing 25 games (starting 23) for Burnely, scoring 3 and getting 4 assists.

Now after starting 12 matches from 12, scoring 1 and getting 3 assists, United want to sign him again. According to 'the Sun', the English side would be willing to spend 40 million to get him back.

The case is very similar to Cesc Fabregas' Barca return in 2011. Arsenal were quicker of the mark than the Catalan club in 2003 and offered him a contract that he hadn't received at the Camp Nou. Years later, Barca paid 40 million to get him back.
