After an impressive 3-0 victory over Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday, United couldn't find a winner against a Wolves side that might have found another goal themselves.
Paul Pogba was one of the best players on the pitch, following on from his two goal performance in midweek.
Wolves had the better of the chances as the game started, looking particularly threatening from set-pieces. Ryan Bennett headed over, before Willy Boly forced David De Gea into a fine reaction save.
However, United opened the scoring against the run of play in the 18th minute. Paul Pogba played a delicate pass to Fred on the edge of the area, who fired a fine low shot past Rui Patricio.
It was the Brazilian's first goal for the club after signing in the summer.

The goal settled the game, with neither team looking threatening until the cusp of half-time, when Fred nearly added to his tally.
From a free-kick 25 yards out, the 23-year-old curled a good strike around the wall. Rui Patricio had to be alert to stop the shot.
Wolves started the second half with purpose, and their efforts were rewarded in the 53rd minute.
Raul Jimenez held up the ball in the box, before setting up Joao Moutinho perfectly to equalise with a stunning finish.
The ball flew into the top corner, leaving David De Gea rooted to the spot.

Both teams pushed for a winner in the second half, with substitute Adama Traore having the best of the opportunities in injury time.
Wolves will be more pleased than United with the result, which leaves them 10th. Manchester United are 5th, but just one point ahead of Wolves.
