Referee Craig Pawson has been heavily criticised for his latest gaffe, which involved booking Erik Pieters for an offence committed by Bruno Martins Indi in Stoke City's 2-2 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.
Stoke revealed on Tuesday that Pieters' yellow card has been transferred to teammate Martins Indi, who does not look particularly like the Potters' left-back.
It was just the latest in a series of errors made by Pawson in the last few weeks, with former referee and current technical director of the Professional Game Match Officials Board, Howard Webb, calling for him to be dropped from Liverpool's meeting with Manchester City on New Year's Eve.
The 37-year-old's performance in Manchester United's defeat of Crystal Palace was littered with mistakes, while many also believed he was wrong to dismiss Jamie Vardy at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.
And while the FA backed that particular decision by rejecting Leicester's appeal, this embarrassing case of mistaken identity was something Pawson could have done without.
