Timo Werner landed in Stamford Bridge last year as one of Chelsea's biggest signings in the last couple of years. The striker had superb stats with RB Leipzig and everyone in London expected great things from the German forward.
Werner's first season as a 'Blue' did not meet the expectations set by the fans, as he only scored 12 goals in 52 games. His start to this season has not been a lot better, he scored two goals in nine games.
Thomas Tuchel wanted to talk about his striker and his form in a press conference ahead of the Brentford game. "With strikers sometimes you feel like that by keeping them on the pitch and you maintain the impulse... but in reality it's not with the strikers is about every player. It is about real form. It is about confidence, about the real moment".
"We usually have so many game that we can not wait for every player to reach their best form possible. What we know need to think about is that Timo has been away with Germany's national team, he played a really good game against Southampton, scoring the winner and that should give him lots of confidence. But that was 2 or 3 weeks ago", said the German manager.
Against Brentford Werner started alongside Lukaku upfront, but both failed to convert.
