Arsenal face the transfer window with two issues to resolve: the futures of Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka. The Uruguay international has spent this season on loan at Fiorentina, where he has played on loan.
The 26-year-old has performed at such a high level that he has become one of the best players in the Italian squad, playing 35 games and scoring five goals. Such has been his performance at Fiore that the Uruguayan is now considering staying in Italy after his loan spell.
Torreira himself told the media after the Uruguay-Panama match: "My idea is to stay at Fiorentina, but if that doesn't happen, I will look for a team where I can have continuity. When the time comes, I will sit down with my agent and we will do so to look for the best options".
And then there is the case of Xhaka. The 29-year-old Swiss midfielder, who is under contract until 2024, is on Bayer Leverkusen's radar, according to German newspaper 'Bild' this weekend.
After finishing his sixth season with Arsenal, Xhaka could be set for an early exit and a move away this summer, which Bayer could use to convince the Swiss international.
