Torino's Zapata will miss the rest of the season with ACL injury

Torino confirmed on Monday that Colombian captain Duvan Zapata suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee in the match against Inter Milan this Serie A matchday, which could end his season.

"The tests carried out on Duván Zapata revealed an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament, medial meniscus and lateral meniscus. Torino warmly embraces Duván in the hope of seeing him back on the pitch as soon as possible," Torino stated.

This type of injury has a long recovery time after surgery, around 8 months, so the striker's season is almost certainly over.

Zapata left the field in the 84th minute after making an awkward twist with his left knee while trying to dribble past Inter defender Matteo Darmian. The Colombian was stretchered off in tears, already aware of the seriousness of an injury that is becoming increasingly common in football. Inter captain Lautaro Martinez, the Argentinian, went around the pitch to check on the condition of his team-mate.

Torino loses its offensive reference and one of its leaders. He scored 12 goals last season and had already scored three this season.
