Just like the UEFA Nations League in Europe, CONCACAF have started their own version. The one-off preliminary phase ended in March and the final phase has now been drawn.
After the first phase in which 34 teams played four matches to determine who would play in which of leagues A, B and C, we now know the groups. The six teams of the Hexagonal were exempt from these as well as Guatemala who were suspended at the time and will play in League C.
But, in this tournament created by CONCACAF, there are three teams which stand out and not exactly for their football teams. They are probably more famous for being holiday destinations or in the case of one of them, a participant of the defunct "Stanford 20/20" cricket competition. These teams are Bonaire, the British Virgin Islands and Montserrat. They are completely unknown. What's more, it is the first time any of these countries will be playing in an official CONCACAF tournament.
Bonaire, a team which is still not offically recognised by FIFA, is in Group B of League C with the British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas. Montserrat, who are not even in FIFA's top 200, are in Group B of League B. El Salvador, the Dominican Republic and St Lucia are the other teams in the group.
