The six candidates to replace Icardi at Inter

The fact that Mauro Icardi will soon leave Inter Milan is no secret. The Argentine forward is very likely bring his time at the club to an end this summer, unless he and the club's directors can come to a surprise agreement. But given nothing has indicated this will happen anytime soon, Inter are setting about looking for a player who can banish the memories of Icardi.

As 'Gazzetta dello Sport' indicates, Lautaro Martinez would be the most natural substitute. Although he has not been a protagonist this season, he has stepped up in Icardi's absence and has now played in four consecutive matches. In total, the forward has made 25 appearances this season, having notched up seven goals and an assist. 

Keita Balde will surely challenge Martinez in time, with the young forward currently struggling with an injury to his right leg. His statistics are similar to those of Martinez, and he has scored four times and provided three assists. 

But should neither of these options work, Inter have a plan B up their sleeve, and have a whole host of possible replacements among their ranks. Among them are Matteo Politano, Ivan Perisic and reserve team players Facundo Colidio and Sebastiano Esposito.
